Richard A. “Farmer” Landry age 75 of Brockton, died unexpectedly on July 18, 2018 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Phylis (Haskins) Landry. He had lived in the city for most of his life.
A 1961 graduate of Brockton High School, Richard served in the US Navy Reserve. Following graduation, he then enlisted in the Air Force and served 1961-1965 during the Vietnam War. Richard had been a truck driver for APA Transport in Canton for many years and retired 20 years ago. He had been a member of the Teamsters Union Local 25.
Richard was an avid golfer, loved fishing and enjoyed traveling. A very sociable man, he was a member of the Conte Club, Club National and the Whitman VFW. He will be remembered as a practical joker who lived life to the fullest. Richard especially loved his time spent with family, friends and his grandchildren.
Richard was the father of Denise Landry of Brockton, Kristine Burke and her husband David of E. Taunton and Jennifer Landry of Brockton; grandfather of Aria, Anissa, Meghan, David and Devin and great grandfather of Alijah, Aribella and Aeson. He was the brother of Jackie Gray and her late husband Jack, Sandra Proctor, Steven “Barney” Landry and his wife Diane, Craig “Gig” Landry, Linda Mallard and the late Robert Landry and leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of Laura L. Landry.
Visiting hours will be held at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Monday July 23, 2018 from 4-8 pm. All are welcome to meet for the committal service in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne Tuesday at 10:15 am.
