Richard "Dick" Alvin Boyes, 84, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Marcelle Suzanne (L’Abbee) Boyes. They had been married for 59 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of Alvin Richard and Esther (King) Boyes. He was employed by the Cavanaugh Company in Greenville as a machinist and master electrician for almost fifty years. He had made his home in Greenville for 59 years previously living in Providence. Richard was a longtime member of the Smithfield Sportsmen’s Club and spent many years as a Smithfield Youth Hockey Coach. He was a faithful member of the St. Philip Church Parish. Dick gave everyone a nickname so when you come to visitation and sign the register, please put your nickname beside your real name.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Michele McGrath, Michael Boyes, Patricia Antonelli and her husband Jeffrey, Richard Boyes and his wife Titia, Susan Dunham and her husband Jamie and Anne Marie Coleman and her husband Timothy, as well as his eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Boyes, and his siblings, Ann Hogan and David Boyes.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, July 24 at 8:30am in the Anderson-Winfield Home, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, Greenville. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
