Henry Neal “Buddy” Swanson, Jr., 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Friday, July 20, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Danny Hughes, the Rev. Farise Taylor and the Rev. Wayne Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Level Church Cemetery in Ben Hill County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Swanson was born December 9, 1936, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Henry Neal Swanson, Sr. & Mary Frances Dobbins Swanson. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School and lived in the community all of his life. Mr. Swanson was a farmer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, tractors, cows and farming. He especially enjoyed fishing on the St. Mary’s River. Mr. Swanson was a member of Pine Level United Methodist Church.
He is survived by six sisters: Shirley Malcolm & David of Fitzgerald, Karen Luke & Johnny of Fitzgerald, Frieda Rich of Fitzgerald, Janis Beanblossom of Irwinville, Judy Stewart of Norcross and Patricia Bloodsworth of Abbeville; 14 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Voncille Swanson and a nephew, Keith McCall.
