Augusta, GA – Elizabeth Wilcox Lee, 87, wife of the late F. Lansing Lee, Jr., and daughter of the late F. Battey Wilcox and Lucille Crenshaw Wilcox, entered into rest on Saturday, July 14, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. John United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jody Alderman officiating. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Lee was a 1949 graduate of Tubman High School and attended Augusta Junior College. She was a lifetime member of St. John UMC, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Lee served as the Chair of the Garden Beautification Committee and hosted the St. John UMC Children’s Easter Egg Hunt in her beautiful backyard for 27 years. She was also a member of the St. John UMW and the Misfits Sunday School class. In addition to her church, Mrs. Lee also served as a member of the Women’s Board of University Hospital, the University Hospital Healthcare Foundation, and the Pine Needle Garden Club.
Survivors include her children, F. Lansing Lee, III (Jeanne Bingham Lee), Battey Wilcox Lee (Betty Kirkland Lee), Mark Anderson Lee, and Susanna Lee Banks (Nathaniel Bostick Banks); grandchildren, F. Lansing Lee, IV (Julie Jabaley Lee) Morgan Lucille Lee, Battey Wilcox Lee, Jr., Elizabeth Lee Warren (Charles Campbell Warren), Mark Anderson Lee, Jr., Michael Joseph Lee, Nathaniel Bostick Banks, Jr., and Crenshaw Lee Banks; two great grandchildren, Lucas Ryker Lee, Ansley Elizabeth Lee; lifetime family companion, Louise “Sister” Mims. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her sisters, Susanna Wilcox Braithwaite, Virginia Wilcox Norvell; daughter-in-law, Brenda Bevis Lee; brother-in-law, Dr. Joseph D. Lee.
The family will receive friends in the sanctuary from 11:00 AM until service time.
