Larry James Smith, 71, of Tifton went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at his residence, following a lengthy illness. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Smith at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Steve Hobby, Charles Mashburn and Robert Pritchett will give eulogies. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 18, 2018, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Dylan Harrell, Hunter Harrell, Charles Mashburn and Robert Pritchett will serve as pallbearers.
Born October 27, 1946 in Moultrie, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Robert Willis Smith and Lillie Lawson Smith. He was also preceded in death by one son, James Robert “Doodle” Smith; five brothers; and three sisters. Before retiring, he was an equipment operator at Vigoro Industries.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 36 years, Clara Nell Arthur Smith of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Roger Wayne and Becky Smith of Pontatac, Mississippi and Joey Ammons of Ocilla; three daughters, Dora Denise Harrell of Tifton and T. Gail Perron of Canada and Nan Pope of Ocilla; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Al Pryor of Florida.
