CHICOPEE ~ Dennis L. Lacroix, 67, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, July 13, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on December 2, 1950, a beloved son of Shirley C. (Bradley) Lacroix of Chicopee and the late Leo G. Lacroix. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. Dennis served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was employed by the Springfield Department of Public Works and had last worked at Sunshine Village in Chicopee. Dennis was a Past Grand Knight of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus and a member of the Bishop Joseph F. Maguire 4th Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus. He also served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Home Association for the Knights of Columbus. Dennis was the go to guy at the Knights of Columbus and was always willing to help out in any way. He worked tirelessly on their bingo committee, spaghetti dinners, Thanksgiving Day dinners, family picnics and Jericho dances. He was a communicant of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. Besides his father, he was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, George Turcotte. Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, Edna D. (Levoy) Lacroix; his daughter, Katie M. Lacroix; his granddaughter, Bailey Rose; his sister, Denice Turcotte; his brother, Kevin M. Lacroix and his wife, Traci; his aunt, Carolann DeJongh; his uncle, George Becker; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Lacroix and Levoy families. His Relatives and Friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will be private for his family at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
