Augusta, GA---Bill Force, 79, died on Friday, July 13, 2018, after a brief illness. He was the only child of Rose Wilson Force and William Minor Force.
Bill was a lifetime resident of Augusta. He attended Houghton Elementary, Tubman Junior High, and graduated from The Academy of Richmond County. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Tech and was a member of The Georgia National Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Frances “Panny” Weltch Force, daughter, Doris Brown (Gary), and son, William “Bo” Force (Marie) and grandson, John Weltch Force. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Jane and David Milligan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Upon graduation from Georgia Tech he was employed by Ross Building Supply, and later by First Federal Savings and Loan Association where he became Executive Vice President. After retiring from banking, Bill enjoyed many years as a broker with Meybohm Real Estate and was grateful to continue there up to the present. Working with people and their families was a great pleasure to him, and he maintained these relationships through the years.
Bill was an active member of Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church and served on the board of trustees. He was a former member of West Augusta Rotary Club and active in the Forest Hills Townhouse Association and The Augusta Choral Society.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity-on-the-Hill Tuesday, July 17, at 2:00 PM, with visitation in the Gathering Area following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity-on-the-Hill, The Augusta Choral Society, or The Jessye Norman School of the Arts.
