William E. Belland, 83, of Westminster, SC, passed away on Friday July 13, 2018 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehab and Nursing Center in Berlin, where he has resided for a short time. He was born in Washington, DC on May 30, 1935 the son of Thomas and Selma (Johnson) Belland and served with the US Army. Until his retirement, he had been employed by the Federal Government for many years including in the Defense Mapping Agency, the FCC and HUD. William also loved VW Bugs, boating and animals, especially his dogs and pet donkeys.
Family includes his daughters Sandra Hammond and husband Donald of Merritt Island, FL and Deborah Bergeron and husband Andre of Berlin, NH; grandchildren Amy, Ashley and Ben. He was predeceased by his wife Hildegard (Schreiner) Belland in 2003.
Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oconee Humane Society, 1925 Sandifer Blvd, Seneca, SC 29678-0910 or to a charity of one’s choice. The Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
