WAYLAND: Julia A. (Gray) Leney, 84, died on Sunday, July 1, 2018.
Julia was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 30, 1934 the daughter of the late Frank William Gray and Inez Daisy (Weddle) Gray. She was the younger sister of the late Jane (Gray) Wainwright.
Julia is survived by her son, Kevin H. Leney of Wayland, her daughter Pamela J. Leney of Madrid, Spain and her grandchildren Natalia and Marco Esteban. She was loved by her three nieces, her nephew and their children. Julia will be greatly missed by her longtime companion, Oskar Heininger of Framingham.
Julia spent her formative years in Indiana and received her Bachelor’s degree from Pomona College and her Masters in Education from Northeastern University, as well as an Administrative Assistant Certificate from Katherine Gibbs School.
Julia was a substitute teacher, administrative assistant and as a child care worker. Julia raised her two children in Wayland. She was active in the League of Women Voters and was a strong supporter of the local arts community throughout her life. She enjoyed Wayland Council on Aging events and daytrips.
Julia had a passion for art and photography. She had many exhibits and people loved her work. Her winsome kindness and love for humanity and nature is shown forever in her art. Julia loved children and animals, especially cats.
Julia was a member of the First Parish in Wayland for many years, where she enjoyed social gatherings with her friends.
At Julia’s request, there will be no funeral service Her amazing journey on this earth now ends at Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
