Obituary

Ernest J. Curry, 93, of Coventry, died Monday, July 9, 2018 at Scalabrini Villa in North Kingstown. He is predeceased by his wife Marie A. (Marchessault) Curry. They had been married for 58 years at the time of her death in 2005.
Born in Laconia, NH, Ernest is the son of the late Ernest G. and Margaret (McCarthy) Curry. He was proud to serve in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Hunt and the NTS Sampson in NY. During that time he was awarded the Victory Medal, American Area, Asiatic Pacific (9 stars), Philippines Liberation Ribbon (2 stars).
Ernest was employed by Arkwright/Interlaken in Fiskeville for 45 years at the time of his retirement. After retirement he and his wife Marie travelled the country and wintered in Arcadia, Florida for over 19 years.
Ernest was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and a loyal friend.
He is survived by his daughters: Donna Andres and her husband, Chuck of Branford, CT. Joyce Gomes and her husband, Darrell of West Warwick. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Kelly Fike (Chris), Michael and Lauren Andres, Shelby Lyn Gomes, and his great grandchildren Tyler and Madison Fike and his sister, Charlotte Urwin (John) and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James Curry, Albert Curry, Catherine Wright, Margaret Young, Irene Curry, and Robert Curry.
A committal service with military honors will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. in the RI Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI 02882. Please gather at the administration building at 9:15am. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Providence VA Medical Center, 830 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island 02908.
