Dorothy Stone Gibbs Turner, 93, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Mystic, Georgia, died Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Melech Hospice in Tampa, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Joey Whitley officiating. Interment will follow in the Clements Family Cemetery, formerly Ebenezer Cemetery, in Irwin County. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Turner was born December 8, 1924, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Calvin Lloyd & Lois Wilson Stone. She was a former employee of Arrow Shirt Factory as a seamstress and Sophie Mae Candy Company as a production line worker. Mrs. Turner attended Mystic Baptist Church and in 2009 moved to Tampa, Florida.
She is survived by her two sons: Jerry Gibbs & wife Marie of Tampa, Florida and William Lee Gibbs and wife Ann of Toccoa; 6 grandchildren: James Larkin Gibbs, Christopher Wayne Gibbs & Indra Lynn, William Lee Gibbs, Jr. & Brandy, Bronson Lee Gibbs & Crystal Dianna, Tammy Darlene Gibbs Snyder & Ronald and Jeffery Lawrence Gibbs; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Cleveland Gibbs; her second husband, Render E. Turner; a son, James Warren Gibbs; a sister, Lottie Louise Allums; a brother, Calvin Stone and one great-grandchild.
