Matthew Michael Greenleaf, of Medford, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 7th at his home in Medford. He was 32.
Matthew Greenleaf was born on a sweltering June night in 1986. Two days after his arrival, he and his family moved to what would be his forever home in Medford. As a toddler he was always very active and getting into mischief whether it be jumping off of high furniture or escaping his parents grip and running off. As he grew older, his boyish mischief turned into a comedy act. He was forever making jokes with everyone around him. He had many hobbies but most of all he loved fishing. Any chance he got, he would grab a fishing rod and head to the nearest body of water often grabbing Katy to go with him. He also enjoyed this hobby with his father and had treated him to a deep sea fishing experience this past Father’s Day. They had a blast catching huge fish which they later cooked for Sunday dinner. His other passions included following sports. He would be so excited at the start of each sports season to try and draft what he thought would be true best fantasy team. On Sunday’s he would play cards with his family. The whole day would revolve around sports, cards and eating. He will be missed greatly by all those who knew him but most especially by his family and girlfriend.
Born in Malden, he was raised in Medford and was a cherished son of David J. and Deborah (Kostinden) Greenleaf of Medford. Matthew is also survived by the love of his life, Katy Mendonca of Malden. Together they shared many loving years. He was the dear brother of Kelly Hobart and her husband David of Billerica, the late Bryan Greenleaf, who passed away in 1988 and the late Scott Greenleaf, who passed away in 2017. He was a treasured grandson of William and the late Margaret Kostinden of Medford and Robert and the late Priscilla Crispo of Somerville. Matthew was the loving nephew of Maureen White and her partner Wilson Pye of Reading, William Kostinden of Lynn, Stephen Kostinden of Revere, George and Gary Greenleaf, both of Florida. He was the adored uncle of Kylie and Hannah Hobart, both of Billerica.
