SPRINGFIELD ~ Emile J. Rouillard, 91, of the North End section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, July 8, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Saint Philemon, Province of Quebec, Canada on November 5, 1926, a beloved son of the late Joseph and Marie (Noel) Rouillard. He was raised and schooled in Canada, immigrated to the United States in 1956 and settled in the North End section of Springfield. Emile was a lumberjack in Canada and, upon his arrival in Springfield, worked as a carpenter for many construction companies including Norton Construction Company in Connecticut. He later was a self-employed carpenter in the Springfield area. Most of all, he was a hard working family man who taught his children the meaning of hard work. He was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church and currently was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, both in Springfield. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Lina Noella Marie (Fradette) Rouillard. They were married in Canada on August 15, 1951 and were blessed with over 66 years of happiness together. He leaves his five loving children, Denise L. Gaumond and her husband, Leonard, of Spotsylvania, VA, Rene Rouillard and his wife, Leslie, of Wendell, NC, Real A. Rouillard and his wife, Joy, of Hadley, Doris L. Kolodziej and her husband, William, of West Springfield and Diane M. Mercier and her partner, Mark Sabourin, of Chicopee; his eight cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Marc Gaumond and his wife, Sarah, Michael Gaumond, Dr. Katherine Rouillard, Nicholas Rouillard, Jason Kolodziej and his wife, Debbie, Brian Kolodziej and his wife, Tiara, Michelle Girard and her husband, Jeff, and Jill Girard and her partner, Joe; his seven cherished great-grandchildren, Chloe Gaumond, Olivia Gaumond, Timothy LaPalme, Katherine Kolodziej, Joey Kolodziej and twins, Jacob and Jack Kolodziej; and his many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Rouillard and Fradette families in the United States and Canada. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his three loving grandchildren, Robert Gaumond, Julie Rouillard and Jennifer Kolodziej LaPalme; and his twelve dear brothers and sisters. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His Burial will be private at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee.
