Ernest L. Asselin, 71, of Nichols Road, Harrisville, died Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the husband of Linda A. (Gardner) Asselin. They had been married for 46 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late George P. and Beatrice A. (Forbes) Asselin. He had lived in Harrisville for 41 years. He was a graduate of the former RI Vocational Technical School and Roger Williams University.
Ernie was a Mechanical Engineer for Mars 2000 in Providence before retiring in 2014. He had also worked for Boston Scientific in Natick, MA and Ostby-Barton in Warwick.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Daniel G. Asselin and his wife, Lori A., of Pascoag, two grandchildren: Daniel G., Jr. and Cortney A. Asselin, and his sister, Marie A. Robidoux and her husband, Dennis of Chepachet and his twin brother, Richard B. Asselin and his wife, Paulette of Tolland, CT.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9am from Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held at 10am in St. Eugene Church, 1251 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Burial will be in Acote’s Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. Visitation Wednesday 4-7pm.
