Edward M. Amaral, 87, of Westport, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Kimwell Nursing & Rehabilitation. He was the son of the late Joseph and Georgina (Moniz) Amaral.
Mr. Amaral was born in Fall River and had resided in Westport for over 20 years. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an assembler for GM Motors Corporation. He was a member of the Prince Henry Club, RI and an avid sports fan. Mr. Amaral enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his 2 daughters: Colleen Leonardo Carey and her husband Paul J. Carey, III of Westport and Melissa Amaral of Fall River; his son: Robert Amaral of Charlton, MA; 2 grandchildren: Cherilyn L. Earle and Philip J. Leonardo, Jr.; along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Edward A. Amaral, brother of the late Grace Mello and father-in-law of the late Philip J. Leonardo.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, July 9, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Visitation will be Monday, from 8:30-9:30 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home, prior to the Mass.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
