…44 years with Raytheon; 63
TEWKSBURY - Susan Gail (Laderoute) Olsen, age 63, an award winning retired Raytheon employee, died peacefully on Thursday morning, July 5, in the loving care of her family and hospice in her Tewksbury home, after a courageous one and one-half year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Carl Olsen, with whom she had celebrated a forty-second wedding anniversary this past November.
She was born in Lowell, one of seven children of the late Paul J. and Dolores (Martel) Laderoute, and raised in Lowell. She had resided in Tewksbury since 1992.
She began her working career just out of Lowell High School with Raytheon. She worked in several Raytheon projects, at several Raytheon locations, and received recognition and awards for her innovations to the Patriot Missile Program. She served on the Board of Directors for Raytheon’s Activities Committee, chairing the annual company Children’s Christmas Party for twenty-five years, and arranging activities from Casino Trips, to Harbor Cruises. She was also a proud member of the Red Hatters Society, known regionally for arranging the annual White Mountain Conclave of Red Hatters. She also served as a tireless fund-raiser for numerous charities for both Raytheon and the Red Hatters Society. In her illness, she was pleased to have received encouragement in the form of letters, cards, and personal visits from people from New England, across the U.S., and even internationally. She will be deeply missed by her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Jeffrey Landry of Wilton, NH; was predeceased by her daughter, Miranda Olsen who died in 2015; her five grandchildren, Jeffrey Landry Jr., Aleah Marie Lucy Landry and her fiancé Nathan Peterson all of Wilton, NH, Sean Paul MacKenzie and Jordan Olsen-MacKenzie of Tewksbury, and Faith MacKenzie of Lowell; her siblings, Linda Hattori and her husband Steve of Tewksbury, Michael Laderoute and his wife Barbara of VA, Mark Laderoute and his wife Maria of Gardner, David Laderoute of Tewksbury, Andrew Laderoute and his wife Kathy of Lowell; numerous nieces and nephews; and was also predeceased by her brother, Paul J. Laderoute Jr.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 14, at 11:30 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery will be private.
