Alberto Galvao (79) of Brockton died July 2nd in the Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maria Tavares.
He was born in Galinheiro, Fogo, Cabo Verde son of the late Jose Pires and Ana Do Canto Galvao. Alberto was a retired, fire watchman for the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. He loved watching sports, had a true passion for fishing and was known to be helpful to all.
Survivors include 7 sons, Jose Tavares, Valdir Alves, Pedro and Marcelino Galvao all of Brockton, Alberto Monteiro and Alcides Tavares both of Boston and Fausto Gomes of Fogo, Cabo Verde, 2 daughters, Ana Dever and Joana Galvao both of Brockton, a brother Romao Galvao both of Brockton, 2 sisters, Maria Andrade of Boston and Tereza Andrade of Brockton, many grand and great grandchildren.
Services from the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel 238 Court Street Brockton Saturday July 7th at 8 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church 71 E Main Street Brockton at 9 am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation Friday July 6th from 5-8 pm.
