SPRINGFIELD ~ Salim Zina, the father of Reverend George Zina, Pastor of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, July 1, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Becharri, Lebanon, a beloved son of the late Khalil and Genevieve (Chehade) Zina. He was raised in Lebanon and had lived in Windsor, Ontario, Canada for several years before moving to Springfield to live with his son, Reverend George Zina. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Emily (Khoury) Zina. He leaves his three devoted sons, Reverend George Zina, Joseph Zina and his wife, Helene, and Gaby Zina and his wife, Marie Madeleine; his eight cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Jean Pierre, Josianne, George and Joelle Zina and Anthony, Gabriella, Emily and Tanya Zina; his loving sister, Nadia Nassar and her husband, Najib; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Zina and Chehade families in Lebanon, Canada and the United States. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his loving sisters and brothers, Georgette, Marie, Salwa, Joseph and Laba. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. His Burial will be held at a later date at Saint Jude Cemetery in Hasroun, Lebanon. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118.
