Marcel A. Loranger, 84, of New Bedford passed away on Tuesday June 26, 2018 at Brigham and Women's Hospital after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
He deeply loved his wife of 62 years, Janet M. (Liarikos) Loranger; his children, Lynn J. Frates and her husband Richard, and Lisa J. Loranger; his grandchildren, Richard J. Frates III, and Thomas Frates and his wife Melanie; and his faithful canine companion, Dexter. He is also survived by his brother, Gilbert Loranger and his wife Joyce; his sister-in-law, Barbara Loranger; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael Loranger, his parents, Albert J. and Yvonne (Becotte) Loranger, and his siblings, Jeannine Liarikos, Roger, Ronald, and Denis Loranger.
Marcel was a partner in the family business, Loranger Construction, and later owned and operated Mar-Lor Crane Service for over 30 years. In recent years, he wished to remain active and was employed by Gil-Den, Inc.
He was a 1953 graduate of Msgr. Coyle High School and attended Wentworth Institute. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Marcel was a Past President of the Acushnet Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, his computer, and the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He had an amazing talent to be able to fix anything. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday July 7, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Visiting hours are omitted. A family burial service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
