Norman Burgo, 84, of New Bedford died Thursday, June 28, 2018 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Antionette (Lomba) Burgo and son of the late Olivia (Raimondo) Rivard and Joseph Burgo.
Chief Burgo served in the U.S. Air Force for over twenty years until his retirement, reaching the rank of Command Chief Master Sergeant. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. Chief Burgo also pursued another career as manager of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Germany.
He loved politics and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the many countries that he traveled.
Survivors include his widow; his nephews, Kenneth and Kevin Burgo; and his great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his twin brother, Raymond Burgo; his brother, Gordon Burgo; and his sister, Arlene Lipes.
His Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial with military honors will follow at 10 AM in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
