Edward J. "Edgie" O'Hearn Jr., a 3 year resident of Malden and former 21 year resident of Medford, 28 year resident of Somerville and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 75 years of age.
Edgie was born in Boston on December 31, 1942, a son of the late Edward J. O'Hearn and Catherine (Maloney) O'Hearn. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School in 1959. Edgie enlisted into the United States Army on August 26, 1960 and served his country with honor and courage during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on January 16, 1963 with the rank of Private. Edgie worked most of his adult life with the New England Produce Center in Chelsea. He enjoyed the outdoors especially camping and fishing. Edgie's pride and joy in his life was his family and he enjoyed the special occasions with his wife, children and grandchildren especially when he was able to cook for them on holidays.
Edgie is the beloved husband of 52 years to Sharon A. (O'Brien) O'Hearn. He is the devoted father of Susan O'Hearn and her husband Douglas Wiswall, Colleen O'Hearn-Voccio, Patrick O'Hearn and his wife Rebecca and Errin D'Arcangelo and her husband Robert. He is the loving Bumpa to Kyle, Quinn, Ryan, Jade, Gabrielle, Aiden, Connor, Haley and Emily. He is the beloved brother of Marilyn O'Hearn-Ray and the late Louise Livingston. Also his extended family Katrina and Tom McCormick, John and Yasuko Voccio, Maggie Veloza, Brendan Wiswall and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Edgie's Funeral on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. His visiting hours will be on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2 to 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
