Obituary

MARION- Rodman E. Taylor Sr., age 87, died peacefully on June 24, 2018. "Rod" was the husband of the late Marguerite Theresa (Parker) Taylor. Born in New Bedford on April 17, 1931, he was the son of the late Clayton and Florence (Michelsen) Taylor.

Following high school, Rod served as Master Sargent in the U.S. Army. By trade, Rod was a professional meat cutter from 1949-1997 at the A&P and then the Marion General Store. He then started a new career in shellfish aquaculture as General Manager of Taylor Cultured Seafood in Fairhaven from 1997 until his retirement in 2016. He was a former volunteer firefighter with the Dartmouth Fire Department, District 3, and served as a Master Mason and Brother of the Abraham H. Howland Jr. Lodge in New Bedford.

He was predeceased by his beloved first daughter, Valerie A. Taylor and is survived by his children; Rodman Taylor Jr, Deborah McCann, Clayton Taylor, Susan Taylor. Stepchildren: Stephen Taylor, Joseph Taylor, Ellen LaChance, Patricia Taylor; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother Alden Taylor and his sister Lois Ainsley.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 7th, at the First Congregational Church of Marion, 28 Main St, Marion, MA
