ALBANO, Rocco P. a long-time resident of Woburn at age 93 on June 25, 2018 after a period of declining health.
Born in Cambridge the son of the late Giacomo and Maria (Spinosa) Albano of Italy. Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Margaret Frain Albano, devoted father of John S. Albano of Dublin NH, Maureen P. Albano and her husband Edward Guadagnoli of Wayland, Margaret Theresa Albano and her companion Scott Thorburn of Weymouth. Loving Grandfather of Emily Russo and her Husband Charlie of Sudbury. Great Grandfather of Evelyn Russo. Brother of Cosmo F. Albano of Woburn, the late Polly Caldarone, Marie, Salvatore and Anthony Albano. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rocco studied mechanical design at the Wentworth Institute and later at the Lowell Institute spending his entire career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was fortunate to contribute to many notable scientific projects over the years and mentored many graduate students.
He had a passion and great talent for gardening which originated from his youth working on the family farm in Concord, MA. Even into his early 90’s he could be found tending to his vegetable garden and fruit trees.
He was always willing to share his technical knowledge and the fruits of his garden with friends and neighbors. He will be tremendously missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Visiting Hours will be held at the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, MA on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road., Woburn, MA. Interment to follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord.
