McCormick, George R. of Quincy and wintered in Kissimmee & Ft. Meyers, FL., died November 18, 2005 at the Shady Care Nursing Home in Ft. Meyers, FL.

Beloved husband of the late Louise V. (Fitzgerald). Loving father of Robert G. and his wife Jane of Stoughton, Stephen A. of Dorchester, Mark J. of S. Boston and his fiance Sandy Austin, Kim and her husband Kevin Regal of Holbrook, Paul V. and his wife Vicki of Holbrook and Gerard R. of Dorchester. Brother of William and Francis, both of FL. Cherished grandfather of Katherine, Christine, Erin, Veronica, Garrett, Eva, Logan and Alanna. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

George was a pipefitter for Local #537 in Boston for over 50 years retiring in 1988.

He was an avid runner and at the age of 55 ran his first Boston Marathon, he also ran the Dublin and Bermuda Marathons. George loved a good debate about anything and everything and he usually took the opposite point of view as the person he was debating with. He enjoyed all sports and also played the trombone. Mr. McCormick graduted in 1946 from South Boston High School where he ran track and played football. His football team won the city title during his senior year. He was a member of the McKeon Post, The American Legion Post of Squantum, AMVETS and a life member of the VFW.

He was a Veteran serving with the United States Army from 6/7/46 to 11/12/47.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, WOLLASTON Wednesday at 9 AM.

Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM.

Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM.

Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
