Obituary


STANDISH- Virginia Eunice Gammon Roberts, age 79, passed away on June 25, 2018 at Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Limington on Oct. 31, 1938, a child of the late Grover and Emma (Peterson) Gammon Norcross. 
She graduated from Limington Academy and has been the Limington Academy Treasurer. After High School, she attended nursing school in Portland and went on to further her education later earning her hairdressing license and CNA certification. 

Ginny enjoyed growing up on her family's farm, helping her father outdoors and hitching her pony up to the wagon, taking her friends for rides. 
She worked for many years as a CNA while raising her family, truly enjoying her job in caring for her clients. 
Ginny will be fondly remembered for her social nature, getting a special group of friends together, for always trying something new and love of her family. 
She also enjoyed dancing, gardening and traveling. Throughout her life, she had been to 48 of the 50 states, including Alaska at the age of 78.  Ginny enjoyed keeping busy and spent much of her retirement with various volunteer programs. While she especially enjoyed being a foster grandparent at Line Elementary School in Limerick and in Gorham schools, she also enjoyed being a member of the Standish VIPS, working with folks at the Barron Center and assisting with her great grandson Brady's school activities and field trips. 

She was a longtime member of the South Limington Free Baptist Church and volunteered in the Sunday School, Youth Group and many other functions, as well as holding the position of Secretary.
 
She is predeceased by a brother, Warren Gammon and two sisters, Loretta Gammon and Marsha Shaw.
Virginia is survived by her children- Donna Burke of Gorham, B. Scott Roberts and his wife Kelly of Maryland; grandchildren - Morgan and wife Alicia, Kirsty and Ashley; step grandchildren Mariah, Mikaela and husband Reed; great grandchildren - Jayden, Austin, Brady, Marissa,  Zachary, Emma and Jazlyn as well as two nieces and husbands, a great nephew and wife, two great nieces and husbands, two step great nephews, two great great nephews, and two great great nieces; along with several beloved adopted children and grandchildren including Brandon, Christina, Michael, JJ and Mikaela and her best friend of 50 years Iva Johnson. 
 
Services will be held at South Limington Free Baptist Church on Sunday July 15 at 2pm. 
A graveside service will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
