Therese D. (Dubois) Ghilardi, 91, of Dartmouth, died peacefully on Thursday June 21, 2018, surrounded by her family at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Louis D. Ghilardi; they had been married for 69 years.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George and Marie Anne (Boileau) Dubois, she lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to East Freetown and then to Autumn Glen in Dartmouth.
Therese was formerly employed as a travel agent at Paragon Travel for many years until her retirement.
Therese was passionate about spending time with her daughters, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved entertaining in the summer at her pool and loved playing cards with her girlfriends. She loved and was loved by all of the Karns family dogs, and enjoyed her trips to the nearby casinos.
Survivors include her two daughters, Charlene Karns and her husband Robert of Portsmouth, RI, and Christine Lamoureux and her husband Mark of Fort Myers, FL; her sisters, Yvette Toyfair and Suzanne Imel; her brothers, Roger, Robert, Richard and Paul Dubois; five grandchildren, Sarah Burman, Joshua Karns and his wife Lee, Rachel Kerrison and her husband Jude, Danielle Thompson and her husband Todd, and Nicole DeRoma and her husband Danny; nine great-grandchildren, Samantha Burman, Hayden Karns, Colton, Fiona, Bowen and Wynn Kerrison, Jenna and Julia Thompson, and Avery DeRoma; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Georgette Newberg, Germaine Smith, Jeannine Penler and Donald Dubois.
A private family burial service was held on Monday in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
