New Bedford – Herman Ruiz-Pitre, age 80, passed away on June 23, 2018 at home. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, he was the husband of Blanca (Alvarez) Ruiz, and the son of the late Juan and Rosa (Pitre) Ruiz.
Herman worked as a floor worker in local textile mills for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by 5 children: Aixa Gomes-Ruiz and her husband Ricardo, Miriam Lopez, Ivette Ruiz, Sunilda Ruiz and Luis Ruiz. He was also survived by 2 sisters, 25 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Herman’s calling hours will take place Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm in the funeral home. His funeral will take place Friday June 29 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home with a service to begin at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
