Alessandro “Sandro” DelGreco, of Tewksbury, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22nd at the Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus. He was 82.
Born in Cassino, Italy, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Lucrezia (Valente) DelGreco.
Sandro worked in the construction industry as a carpenter and laborer. He loved working with his hands and was a skilled handyman. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, wine making, canning, looking for edible mushrooms, making sausage, and chasing away the squirrels. He also liked to watch soccer and Italian television. Sandro loved his family more than anything and always looked forward to family dinners. He was a kind and loving person and will be missed by all the lives he touched.
Sandro was the beloved husband of Jeannine (Courouzian) DelGreco. The two married on March 25, 1961 in France. Together they shared 57 loving years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Bruno DelGreco and his wife Linda of Pelham, New Hampshire, Linda Rekkbie and her husband Ali of Tewksbury and Mark DelGreco of Derry, New Hampshire. Sandro was the loving grandfather of Alex and Carleen DelGreco, both of Pelham, New Hampshire, Katie DelGreco of Derry, New Hampshire, Adam and Amanda Rekkbie, both of Tewksbury. He was the dear brother of Elisa D'Aguano of Medford, Maria Di'Nallo of France, Antonio DelGreco of Italy, and the late Mario DelGreco of Medford.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, June 27th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 3 through 7 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
