Dorothy (Dottie) A. Greenler, 92 of Manchester, NH. Died Friday, June 22, 2018 at Catholic Medical Center following a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Boston, MA on July 8, 1925, a daughter of the late Charles and Helena (Goldrick) Sauer. She moved to Manchester in 2012, previously living in Londonderry, NH, Lowell , MA, Bolton, MA, and Cambridge, MA. Dottie was raised in Jamaica Plain, graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1942 and is a graduate of Emmanuel College in Boston.
She worked at M.I.T., Parke Mathematical Labs and Brandeis University as a scientific and computer programmer, before continuing her education at Boston College and at Bowdoin College with two Masters Degrees in Mathematics. After the death of her husband James Moran, she went into teaching and raised her son, James (Jay) Moran. She taught math at Cambridge High and Latin School, St. Peter’s High School in Cambridge, Xavier High School, Concord, MA, and Bedford High School, Bedford MA. Dorothy was a lecturer and Adjunct Faculty at UMASS Lowell. While teaching at Xavier High, Dot met and married James Greenler, a fellow teacher. Dorothy was a devout Catholic and belong to many church a civic organizations throught her life. She loved to vacation at her cabin in Booth Bay Harbor, ME and was an avid hiker with her husband Jim. She was a lover of Wire Haired Fox Terriers and always had her “Terry” (of which there were many) by her side.
Dorothy is survived by her three nieces, Helene Staley and her husband Kevin Staley of Manchester, Paula Conti of N. Chelmsford, MA and Marie Happeny of Braintree, MA as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews. She is predeceased by her first husband James Moran, her second husband Jim Greenler and her son, James J Moran.
A calling hour for Dorothy was held on Tuesday morning, June 26th from 8:30am until 9:30am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at 10:00am at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The burial was in the Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge MA.
