Alice M. Lawless, 81, of Breezy Knoll Road, Greenville, died Friday in Greenville surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Paul R. Lawless.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James and Alice (Lynch) Thompson, she is survived by her sister Katherine (Kay) O'Connor and predeceased by her two sisters, Ruth Leddy and Margaret (Peggy) Sullivan. She had lived in Greenville for 60 years.
Alice had been a Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and Fatima Hospital working in their Emergency Rooms before retiring in 2001. She was a compassionate, articulate, intelligent and very funny lady who made those around her enjoy life as much as she did. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves behind her children, Patricia J. Mitchell of South Kingstown, Paul R. Lawless and his wife Linda of Smithfield, Deborah M. Gilbertson and her husband Matthew of Lynnfield, MA and Michael T. Lawless and his wife Charlotte of Smithfield, her 9 grandchildren, Paul, Stephen, Julie, Ryan, Chelsea, Matthew, Michaela and Alana and her 4 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Mariah, Meara and Nicholas.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, June 27th at 8:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Visitation Tuesday, June 26th from 4-7pm.
