Florence L. (Nader) Galkowski, 91, of Holden, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 with her family at her side in Holden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Her husband Henry S. Galkowski died in 1991.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence Galkowski of Holden; two grandsons, Christopher Galkowski and Alexander Galkowski both of Holden, Niece Ann Marie Creed and her husband Dennis of Oakham; grandnieces, Jennifer Ann Creed of Milford, Connecticut and Heather Marie Creed of Oakham and grandnephew, Mark C. Creed and his wife Michele of Lynwood, Washington.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Statia E. Cheney and Viola A. Gebski and her dog and best friend Maly. She was born in Worcester the daughter Stanislaw and Anna (Stoklosa) Nader.
Mrs. Galkowski worked in the Audit Department of Thom McAn Company for over forty years prior to retiring. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and Worcester Secretarial School. Florence was a life-long member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and its Woman’s Guild. She also was an active member and former secretary of The Polish American Veterans, Auxiliary.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s School Alumni Fund, 34 Richland St., Worcester, MA 01610.
