Forrest W. Damon, 91, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts died June 15, 2018 at the Brockton Hospital.
Born in East Bridgewater Massachusetts on Dec 20, 1926, he is the last serving member of his family of 7 siblings and the son of the late Janette (Smith) Damon and Forrest H. Damon.
He received his diploma from the Massachusetts School of Barbering in 1948, opening his own barber shop for a short time until being recalled by the US Navy. Before entering the service he was a vault worker for H. E. Coburn of Whitman, Mass. He worked for the E. Norris Brown Co. in Whitman, Mass. as a foreman for several years until retirement. He also was the caretaker for The Northville Cemetery in East Bridgewater, Mass.
He was a PROUD United States Navy Veteran who served in WORLD WAR II as a turret gunner on the USS Alaska, and Honorably Discharged in May 1946 and then again in December of 1951.
He loved music, bowling, whist, cribbage, Twin Rivers, baseball, football and cooking.
He was the husband of the late Theresa (Dick) Damon for 40 years, and is the husband of Patricia (Langley) Damon.
He leaves behind 2 daughters Karen (Damon) Rebell and son-in-law Peter Rebell, Lynette (Damon) Mason and son-in-law James Mason of Middleboro, Mass. Two step sons Shawn Shay and daughter-in-law Wendy Shay of California and Edward Shay of Middleboro Mass, six grandchildren, Melissa T. Damonand her fiancé Kevin Ricci, Matthew and Brandon Rebell, Rachel and Erica Mason and Devin Shay. He was the loving great grandfather to Jake, Hailey, Logan, Emma and Aaliyah Ricci.
He was the brother-in-law to Joan and the late William Burke of Olmsted Falls, Ohio and Robert B Dick Jr. and Marie Dick of Marshfield, Mass.
He will be sadly missed by his nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held Friday June 22 from 6:00-8:00 PM the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. His funeral service will be on Saturday June 23 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel. Burial will follow, with Military Honors, in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
