Skenderian, Claire Marie Silvers of Dedham died June 16, 2018 after a very brief illness. Born in Quincy, Claire was the daughter of Arthur A. Silvers and Mary L. (Gallagher) Silvers. An only child, she had no living relatives but many old and good friends.
Claire was a long-time resident of Dedham and a graduate of Dedham High School class of 1959,where she was an athlete of considerable note. She went on to graduate from the Chandler Secretarial School of Boston. She held many positions in the business field including Peter Elliot & Company, Associated Power Products, Polaroid, Ethos, Jamaica Plain, and others, but most recently as Executive Assistant at the Dedham Historical Society, from which she retired in 2017.
Claire was an avid reader, walker, and insisted on regular work-outs at the health club so that she could maintain her “looking-great” appearance, and she did. She was a big fan of the Punta Cana, Dominican Repuiblic and planned trips there three times a year. She was the former wife of Donald Skenderian.
At Claire’s request there are no visiting hours. Friends will gather at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 456 High St. Dedham on Thursday, June 28, at 10 AM and will proceed to St. Mary’s Church for a Mass celebrating Claire’s life, at 11 AM. Her remains will be buried with her father at Brookdale Cemetery.
