Mildred Ivey passed away peacefully at her home on June 16, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter F. Ivey and daughter Janet Ivey. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sharon Jones (JR) and Deborah Dietschler (Steve), granddaughters Allison Boorn (Jason) and Stephanie Overton (Jason), great grandchildren Zachary, Zoe and Braylen and her nieces, Myrtle Williams and Mary Ann Dressel.
Mildred leaves behind a cherished family who will miss her smile, her laughter and her love of her great grandchildren. Mildred never met a stranger, loved dancing, going to concerts, especially "Little Richard," gathering with friends of the "Old Gang" from Harrisburg to eat or dance, watching old movies while eating popcorn dipped in chocolate and never missed the opportunity to travel when offered.
Mildred served the community daily through her years of employment and service for the United Methodist Children's Home in Augusta. She previously worked for many years in the Payroll department for Graniteville Company at their Enterprise Mill location in Augusta, prior to its closing.
The family will receive guests Tuesday evening June 19, 2018 from 6 - 8 pm at Platt's Funeral Home on Crawford Avenue, in Augusta, Georgia. The service will be held Wednesday June 20, 2018 in the Chapel of the funeral home beginning at 12:00 pm with the Reverend David Dowd presiding. Burial to follow at Westover Memorial Park Augusta, Georgia.
