Died peacefully May 22, 2018, of a series of strokes complicated by Alzheimer’s. Born May 25, 1942, Thornton, IA. Grew up in Coulter, IA. Graduate of Franklin Consolidated High School, 1960. Attended Lutheran Bible Institute of Minneapolis, 1961, and California Lutheran Bible School, Los Angeles, 1962-63. Graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute Seattle, 1979. Married to Marjorie Hultgren, 1964. Commissioned Officer in the US Army, 1967. Received his Commercial Pilot License 1979. Ron and Marj together with their children, served as missionaries with World Mission Prayer League in Bolivia and Mexico. Ron also served for 30 years on the board of International Messengers, serving with short term teams to Czechoslovakia, Romania and Poland. Ron loved flying, driving and traveling in general. He was hospitable to friends and strangers. But his underlying love was for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by 5 infant children, his parents, Chris B and Ruth G (Nygaard) Christensen, sister Christy Lu, and 3 infant siblings. He is survived by his wife Marj, daughter Spring (Tim) Becker, son Sky (Jennifer) Christensen, six grandchildren and many cousins. Funeral Service Friday (8/3) 11:00 AM at THE FIRST EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 2696 Hazelwood Street, Maplewood. Visitation 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
