F. Elizabeth “Beth” (Restrick) Lane, 72, passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on May 16, 2018.
Beth was born in Bay Shore, NY on February 4, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Rev. William W. Restrick and the late Doris P. Restrick, and grew up in northeast Ohio. She was a 1964 graduate of Howland High School in Warren, Ohio and a 1966 graduate of the Aultman Hospital School of Radiography in Canton, Ohio. She also attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA and received an Associate of Arts degree in 1977. She was a registered member of the American Association of Radiologic Technologists and worked for more than thirty years in this capacity at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston before retiring in 2008.
Beth was an avid quilter and for many years was a member of the Herring Run Quilters Guild in Norwell, MA. She attended and participated in numerous local, regional and national quilting conferences and shows. In recent years, she channeled her creative talents into designing and creating greeting cards to send to family and friends. Beth was also a lover of barbershop music. Her favorite was the Vocal Majority, a 150-strong men’s barbershop chorus based in Dallas, Texas. Beth made more than one trip to Dallas to hear the Vocal Majority perform and was friendly with several of the chorus members and their families. Beth was also an amateur genealogist and had traced her family back to the village of Rastrick in Yorkshire, England. In her younger years, Beth was also a world traveler. Beth made two trips to England to visit relatives, attended the Oberammergau Passion Play in Germany, visited South Africa and Swaziland, and most recently visited Mozambique in southern Africa where she was involved with sponsoring several children. Beth was a former member of the South Weymouth Church of the Nazarene, and after moving to Quincy, joined the fellowship of the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene.
Beth leaves her two brothers, the Rev. Dr. David W. Restrick and his wife, Rhoda, of Braintree, and Douglas P. Restrick and his wife, Arlene, of Bel Air, Maryland. She also leaves three nieces and three nephews: Beth Restrick and Mary Restrick of N. Weymouth, Layne Restrick of Havre de Grace, MD, David W. J. Restrick of Braintree, Chad Restrick and Justine of Forest Hill, MD, and Tyler Restrick and Rachel of Abingdon, MD. She also leaves five great nieces and nephews. Beth also leaves two aunts, Mary Pearsall of Valley Stream, NY and Ruby Pearsall of Nampa, ID, and numerous cousins scattered across the country.
A memorial service celebrating Beth’s life will be held at the South Weymouth Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, June 23, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the Restrick Family Scholarship at Eastern Nazarene College, 23 East Elm Avenue, Wollaston, MA 02170.
