Fairhaven – Camila R. “Carmen” (Barbone) Oehrle, 89, died November 11, 2005 at Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of William H.S. Oehrle. They were married for 48 years.
Mrs. Oehrle was born in Quincy, MA, daughter of the late Michele and Elizabeta (Nasuto) Barbone, and resided in Acushnet for 59 years, living the past 2 years in Fairhaven. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet. She was a graduate of Quincy High School, class of 1934. During the war years, she was a civilian Clerk Typist at the Naval Torpedo Station, Newport, RI and the War Department, Washington, D.C. She was a member of the 8th class of the Newport, RI Chapter of the American Red Cross for Volunteer Nurses’ Aides. She was also a blood donor for the American Red Cross Blood Donor Services. After the war, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and also served as Treasurer of the Licensed Practical Nurses of Massachusetts, Inc., District No. 3. She was a devoted Foster Care Mother to several children. When first becoming a resident of Acushnet, she was a member of the Newcomer’s Club where many life-long community friendships were formed. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and letter writing where she would share recipes with family and friends.
Survivors include several nieces & nephews.
She was sister of the late Mary Panarelli, Jennie O’Connor, Ruth Barbone, Lawrence Barbone, Joseph Barbone and Peter Barbone.

A Memorial Mass on Friday, November 25, 2005 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet.
