John Thomas Burns, Jr., 90, of McDonough, Georgia, died Monday, June 4, 2018, at his son’s residence in Acworth, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Spring Hill Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Keith Parks officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Burns was born August 24, 1927, in Palatka, Florida, to the late John Thomas Burns, Sr. & Lottie Clarice Clark Burns. He served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Burns resided in McDonough for 40 years and retired from AT &T. He farmed and raised cows and pigs. Mr. Burns was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his children: John Thomas Burns, III of Acworth and Cynthia Lynn Cooper & Jim of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn Burns of Boulder, Colorado and John Paul Burns of Marietta; great-grandson, Bear Burns of Marietta; two brothers: Robert Barney Burns & Becky of Cairo and George Burns of Lithonia and a sister, Audrey Goldman of Lincolnton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Fouche and a half-sister, Johnnie Manley.
