Edwin Earl Hill, age 90, passed away at his home in Water Valley on June 4, 2018. He was born September 21, 1927 in Water Valley, MS to the late Alfred Bennett and Vattie Vearl Hensley Hill. Edwin Earl, affectionately known by his family as “Doc,” served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a former Sunday school teacher and a faithful and active member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church where he served during the construction of the church and as a choir member. Edwin Earl dearly loved his church and his church family and would do anything he possibly could to help others. He was a master brick mason and carpenter and enjoyed good food, hunting, fishing, and building furniture. Family was a priority with Edwin Earl and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Edwin Earl is survived by his daughter, Malinda Hill Turner of Aberdeen, MS; his son, Ron Hill (Bettye) of Cleveland, MS; two brothers, Jerry Wayne Hill and Thomas Franklin Hill both of Water Valley, MS; three grandchildren, Ethan Hill Turner, Maribeth Crews and Sara Ellen Hill; and two great-grandchildren, John Pittman Crews and Mary Courtland Crews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Black Hill; two sisters, Betty Ann Williams and Mary Lou Childress; and four brothers, Alfred Bennett Hill, Jr., Wayland Dean Hill, Sr., Bobby Hensley Hill, and Billy Jack Hill.
