Ruth A. Campos, of Wilmington passed away peacefully, May 30, 2018 at the Oakdale Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Boylston. She was 93. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Albert P. Campos. Born and raised in Culpeper, Virginia she was one of 14 children of the late Joel and Octavia (Clarke) Dodson.
Ruth and her late husband Albert built their home here in Wilmington in 1954 and have been residents ever since. Early on, Ruth's main focus in life were her children and tending to the needs of her growing family. Making sure that her home was always a warm and welcoming place for them to gather even as they got older and began families of their own. Family always came first. In her leisure time she enjoyed caring for her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed many trips back to Culpeper, Virginia to visit with her extended family.
Ruth is lovingly survived by her devoted children; Ruth Bowes and her husband Arthur of Jamaica Plain, Paul Campos and his wife Laura of Holden, Linda York of Gloucester, Jeffrey Campos of Wilmington, Joel Campos and his wife Pam of Phillipston. She was the loving grandmother of Joyce McDonnell, Cheryl Bowes, Christopher Campos, Yvonne Robins, Grace, Faith and Grady Campos, and the late Yvette York. She was the loving great grandmother of Allison and Audrey McDonnell. Ruth is sadly predeceased by her 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Thursday, June 7th, at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the Mass from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
