Obituary

Carl Thomas “Tommy” Mullis, 81, of Tifton passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown with the Rev. Nat McCalvin officiating. Mr. Mullis will be laid to rest at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 6, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown.

Scott Dunn, Brent Dunn, Hank Mullis, Stan Yawn, Phil Beach and Chad Davis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wright Marchant, Ronnie Jones, Donis Williams, Buddy Walker, Donald Hester, James Hester, Jimmy Norman, Coy Tawzer and Donnie Childers.

Born August 1, 1936 in Tift County, Mr. Mullis was the son of the late Jacob Thomas Mullis and Eula B. Mathis Mullis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry Joe and Angie Mullis and James Franklin “Jimmy” Mullis. He was a farmer and a dedicated Christian and served as a church deacon for many years. He loved his grandkids and loved drinking coffee with his friends at Excelsior store. He served in the United States Air Force for eight years.

Mr. Mullis is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Hall Mullis of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Joann Mullis of Tifton and Robert Thomas and Fran Mullis of Valdosta; one daughter, Michele Mullis Masterson and Bill Kreschollek and his children, Lindsey Kreschollek and William Kreschollek, all of Omega; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Joyce Mullis of Tifton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Carol DeMello of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Kay and Ronnie Dunn of Tifton and Sandra and Junior Wood of Tifton; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Mullis of Tifton; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Angel Mullis, Kyle Mullis, Bryan and Jessi Mullis, Kevin Mullis, Britni and John White, Ashli and Jason Cottle and Hayden Masterson; seven great-grandchildren, Madison Taylor, Kelsey Mullis, E J Mullis, Raegan Mullis, Lincoln Mullis, Jaxson White and Laini White; and a special family member, Traci Mullis of Tifton.
