WORCESTER: Arlene J. Dewitte-McGovern, 81, died Sunday, June 3, 2018 at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a long illness. Her husband of 45 years, Roy W. McGovern, died March 3, 2003.
She leaves three sons, Daniel A. McGovern and his wife Lisa of Spencer, Patrick M. McGovern and his wife Sandy of Windsor Locks, CT, William R. McGovern of Worcester; a sister, Margene Dewitte; three grandchildren, Melissa Dunn, Sean McGovern and Cassandra Orr; two great grandchildren, David and Emma; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved animal companions, “Buster and Rosco”. A sister, Geraldine Parnell of Washington state, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Eugene and Margaret (Schwartz) Dewitte and was a graduate of Worcester Girl’s Trade High School.
Arlene was a cafeteria worker for the Worcester Public School System. She had also worked in the housekeeping department at Memorial Hospital. She was a member and CCD teacher at the former Our Lady of Fatima Church and had later attended Mass regularly at St. Bernard’s Church of Our Lady of Providence Parish. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her love of animals and family.

After cremation, a MEMORIAL FUNERAL MASS with Arlene’s ashes will be held at 11 A.M. on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13 in ST. BERNARD’S CHURCH of OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE PARISH, 236 Lincoln Street.
