Lois T. Wattendorf White
Lois T. Wattendorf White (“Lo-e”) of Auburndale, MA (formerly of Jamaica Plain and Lincoln) died peacefully with family on May 29, 2018. Lo-e was born July 16, 1927, to Victoria Browne and William Driscoll. She grew up in Lexington and summered in Scituate with her late siblings John Driscoll, Miriam Fairclough, and Barbara Basso. She was the loving wife of the late Thomas J. White, and formerly of the late George V. Wattendorf. She is survived by her long time friend and sister-in-law Mary Driscoll.
Lo-e attended Georgian Court College where she concentrated on music. Even as her children were born, she continued to play piano with a concert orchestra. In her empty nest years, she applied that same work ethic to golfing, winning accolades for her athleticism in Cotuit and Osterville. She was a sports enthusiast who always encouraged, supported and attended her children and grandchildren’s games, often delivering donations to Rosie’s Place on the way. She loved having her whole family together on special occasions, and so everyone gathered for “Christmas in July” on her 90th birthday.
Forever Lo-e will be cherished by her beloved seven children -- Terry Tibbetts (Joe) of Scituate, Celia Judge (Jim) of Wayland, Victoria Mastaj Wattendorf of Holland, George V. Wattendorf Jr (Sarah) of Swampscott, the late Billy Wattendorf, Mary Sears (David) of Pepperell and Georgia Wattendorf-Guiney of North Attleboro; eighteen grandchildren -- Alexandra, Nicholas, and Willam Tibbetts, Anjuli Judge Johnson and Neha Judge, G.V. Wattendorf III, Heidi Wattendorf Buckley, Gretchen Wattendorf Abell, John-Paul, Christopher and Joseph Mastaj, Jessie Sears Villatoro, David and Valerie Sears, Olivia, Julia, Georgina and John Guiney; and nine great grandchildren -- Eliza and Max Scheer, Sophia and Ajay Johnson, George Wattendorf IV, Brooks Buckley, Grace and Faith Abell, and Lawson Villatoro. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Relatives & friends are respectfully and warmly invited to join Lo-e’s family in the celebration of her life. Visiting hours are 9:30 to 11AM, Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY. Funeral Mass is at 11:30AM at St Theresa’s Church, 2078 Centre St, West Roxbury. Burial to follow at the old Calvary Cemetery, 366 Cummins Hwy, Roslindale, MA.
