Obituary


Gordon “Pete” Beck passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at his home in Prosser, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 28, 1938 in Seattle, Washington to Gordon Ernest and Anna V. (Lehman) Beck. Pete grew up in Prosser, graduating from Prosser High School in 1956. He went to the University of Washington and was always a Huskie fan! He then proudly served his country with the US Army for two years. After that, he returned to Prosser to work side by side with his father and uncle at Beck Hardware for many years. He married the love of his life Sheryl Jean Mercer and they spent 38 years together. After the store closed, he went to work for Benton County as a Road Engineer. He loved sports, baseball most of all. He loved to fly and had his pilot’s license. He was an avid reader and loved history and trivia.

Pete was always quick with a smile and was a loving father, husband and friend to all.

Pete is survived by his wife, Sheryl; two daughters, Jessi Bottemiller and her husband, Allan and Stephanie Beck; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Gordon Beck and his sister, Roberta Schwenk and her husband, Jerry.

A time of gathering and celebration of Pete’s life will be held at the Beck family residence, 146623 West North River Road in Prosser, at 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 9th with food and drinks to follow.
