Obituary

Priscilla S.(Leavitt) Caskin of Whitman, Massachusetts and Westport Island, Maine died peacefully on May 27 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was born in Whitman on August 20, 1912 the daughter of Dr. George D. Leavitt and Edith (Roberts) Leavitt. She spent most of her life residing in Whitman and was honored to have been the recipient of the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident of Whitman.

She was predeceased by her husband William Caskin and her sisters Mildred Leavitt and Margery Leavitt Hovey and her brother Dr. George Leavitt Jr. She was the devoted mother of daughter Sally (Caskin) Sacchetti and her husband Stephen of Whitman. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Amy Sacchetti Mahoney and her husband Ryan of Whitman, S. Andrew Sacchetti of Hermon, Maine, William Sacchetti and his wife Kimberly of Foxborough and Michael Sacchetti and his wife Alisha of Plymouth granddaughter-in-law Donna Parylo and her 7 adored great grandchildren Peter Sacchetti, Julia Sacchetti, Nicole Sacchetti, Jon Sacchetti, Alexander Mahoney, Millie Mahoney and Domenic Sacchetti. She also leaves many nieces and nephews with whom she has enjoyed close relationships through the years.

A special thank you to her Partners nurse Kathy and Home Health Aide Gail for the wonderful care and friendship they have provided for the past few years. A very special Thank You to the highly skilled, kind and compassionate care she received at Saint Elizabeths Hospital while critically ill in 2016 and the continued care she has received from Dr. Joseph Carrozza and Nancy Nicholson, NP-c both of whom Priscilla considered friends.

Priscilla was a lifelong member of the Whitman First Congregational Church.

She was a graduate of Whitman High School and furthered her education graduating from Wheaton College. She was a Social Worker who spent many years working at Norfolk County Hospital.

Priscilla enjoyed her life to the fullest and showed remarkable strength during difficult times. She was fortunate to have maintained her mind and body throughout her life. She enjoyed exercising at Curves until age 99, dancing, walks, crossword puzzles and the daily news. In her later years she loved to entertain family, friends and medical “friends” with her stories and songs.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in a Celebration of Priscilla’s Life on June 9th at 10:00 at the First Congregational Church, 519 Washington Street, Whitman. Visiting Hours will follow downstairs in the Church Fellowship Room from 10:30-12:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help people in need, may be made to the Deacons Fund of the First Congregational Church.
