Johnny Jefferson Jones, Jr., born October 8, 1934 was called home to be with his Heavenly Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2018.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, GA. The family will greet friends at the graveside following the service.
Johnny was born in Augusta, Georgia and attended Richmond Academy before being accepted to The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, in 1950. After graduating from The Citadel, he served his country with honor – being stationed in Munich, Germany in the United States 47th Antiaircraft Artillery from 1954 through 1956. After leaving military service, Johnny returned to Augusta to take care of his mother, Eleanor Fox, and to begin the restoration of several local hotels, including The Augusta Hotel.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Caroline; his son, Richard Jones; his daughter, Eleanor Fox and her husband Christopher Fox and their children, Kayleigh, Cade, Easton, and Broc. Johnny joins his mother and family in Heaven. His sharp, dry wit will be missed by his family on Earth.
