Maria Fernanda (Freitas) Carvalho, 80, of New Bedford died Monday May 28, 2018 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in Santa Cruz, Madeira, the daughter of the late Manuel and Georgina Freitas Vieira, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Carvalho was formerly employed as a stitcher at the Fairhaven Mills until her retirement.
She is survived by three children, James Carvalho, Robert Carvalho and wife Daphne, and Lisa Matthews, all of New Bedford; her former husband, Joaquim Carvalho of New Bedford; six grandchildren, Joshua, William, and Chalia Matthews, Seth, Aiden, and Serena Carvalho; and five great-grandchildren, Savannah, Jordan, Trevor, Anthony, and Rylan.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday June 1, 2018 at 9:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 AM.
