Obituary

James T. "Jimmy" Cass, Clerk, Charlestown District Court, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 82 years of age.

Jimmy was born in Boston on August 31, 1935, a son of the late Robert L. Cass and Catherine M. (Hennessey) Cass. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from English High School in 1953. Jimmy worked at Revere Sugar Refinery in Charlestown for several years prior to its closing and then began working as a Clerk at the Charlestown District Court House where he dedicated almost 50 years of service to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Jimmy was a devout Catholic and a daily communicant at St. Francis De Sales Church in Charlestown where he collapsed inside St. Francis De Sales Chapel of a heart attack on Wednesday, May 16. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed traveling to New Jersey.

Jimmy is the devoted brother of Roberta Hines and George Cass. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jimmy's Funeral on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington. His visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
