Betty Ruth Mays Arthur Pope, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, May 26, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Tom Braziel and Pastor Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Pope was born December 20, 1931, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, to the late Arthur Lee & Zada Mays. She worked at the Fair Store and manager Allied Department Store for many years. She was a hairdresser having worked with Doris Pridgen and Les Paulk as well as at Lobo’s. She was a former Sunday school teacher at Arbor Baptist Church and was a member of Crossview Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Jordan of Fitzgerald; her grandchildren: Jodie Lea Jordan of Fitzgerald, John Stephen Jordan & Nicci of Fitzgerald, Jacob Allen Jordan & Beth of Fitzgerald, and James Clifton Jordan & Lucy of Ocilla; great-grandchildren: Brae Jordan, Nic Jordan, Devan Murrhee, Gage Murrhee, Hayleigh Adkinson, Meegan Jordan, Peyton Owens, Keagan Jordan, and Tucker Jordan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Clifton Arthur and Paul Nick Pope as well as seven brothers and sisters.
