CORNISH- Ruth Elaine Nelson, age 88, passed away on May 26, 2018 at Ledgewood Manor in Windham.
She was born in Cornish on Sept. 30, 1929, a daughter of the late Henry and Zella (Noble) Parker.
Ruth attended Cornish schools and graduated from Cornish High School. She went on work at a dress shop in Cornish, married her husband Albert, and began a family together.
Ruth enjoyed playing Beano and horseshoes, knitting, clogging and dancing, yard sales, reading detective and romance magazines, and played sports years as a youth.
She is predeceased by her husband- Albert Nelson; siblings- Elva Rankin, Morton Parker, Joe Parker, Clayton Parker, Frank Parker, Rodney Parker, Ike Parker, and Murray Parker; and a grandson- Scotty Nelson.
Ruth is survived by her children- Randy Nelson and his companion Patty of Cornish, and Brent Nelson Sr. and his wife Nora of Cornish; grandchildren- Tracy, Brent Jr., and Jason; and great grandchildren- Brandon, Kayleigh, Skyla, and Meadow.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday June 3, at 2 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., in Cornish. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cornish.
